Atilogwu Dance by Atlanta Igbo School
Igbo, Atilogwu, Culture, African Culture, Nigerian, Nigeria
Atilogwu translates from Igbo to English as "Is this magic?" Traditionally a spirited dance, spectators would ask if magical assistance was used to make the dancers perform such a complicated routine while making it look easy, thus, Atilogwu. In this video, first and second generation Igbo youths perform Atilogwu for their families and community as a fundraiser for their cultural education program. Notice the community member's reaction to the performance, as they shower the dancers with money in acknowledgement of their hard work and dedication.
