Continuum: The Spelman Undergraduate Research Journal

Continuum highlights research that affects black women and black womens contributions to research. As an interdisciplinary journal, Continuum encourages readers to think critically about the intersection between scholarship and black womens experiences across the diaspora. The publication prepares undergraduate students for graduate studies by encouraging them to develop a passion for research. We are a platform for students around the world to use scholarship to initiate dialogue across disciplines and bring research to the forefront of the collegiate experience.

Since 2015, our team has worked to create a culture of multifaceted engagement with research among Spelman College students. To that end, we hosted workshops, information sessions, and one-on-one conversations with students about research. Now, our efforts from the past two years have culminated in this publication, which showcases original student research spanning disciplines from public health to sociology. Through the variety of research presented in this issue, we hope to encourage our authors and readers to consider the intersectionality of research.
