This paper seeks to analyze the critical elements which define the African diaspora in Switzerland. This analysis will focus on the migration trends of African descended people beginning after 1985 and the key themes which affect their experience in Switzerland. The overarching theme of this paper is the social integration of African diasporic people through the lens of racial discrimination. The two critical elements that will be analyzed are the politicization of migration with fearmongering politics and the assimilation of African diasporic people into the workplace in Switzerland. We conducted the analysis through a series of 6 interviews both formal and informal with experts and members of the African diaspora in Switzerland. Many scholarly articles were used as a knowledge base to support the arguments within this paper. The Swiss Federal and Cantonal offices of Statistics were used to collect statistical data on the trends of African diasporic people in Switzerland.
