In this interview with J.W. Smith, James Costen talks to him about the highlights of Smiths ministry and experiences with the Presbyterian Church. Born in 1893, he attended Biddle University and studied under Dr. Young, who among other teachers made the students self-confident and pushed them to be their best under an unequal system. He discusses differences in church administration and churches where he pastored. Additionally, they discuss Black Presbyterianism and the state of the Presbyterian churches around Charlotte, North Carolina.
