[History of the Northern Jurisdiction of COGIC] (audio)
The History of the Church of God In Christ in Georgia 1908-1970
Bishop J. Howard Dell Collection
This recording begins with Dell talking about his positions with the northern jurisdiction of the COGIC church. He talks about in 1908 Brother Jonas came to Griffin, GA and established a church, which was the first congregation. He also talks about churches in Villa Rica and Greenville. He talks about all the key members and the part they played in the forming of the church. He also talks about the forming of the smaller units into a larger jurisdiction, and Dell’s ordination into the church. He talks about the various people that have moved in and out of the COGIC church, how the headquarters were established, and how the jurisdiction grew and changed. He retells this history though about 1952.
