[Beware of Oil Sellers] (audio)
Convocation Part I
Bishop J. Howard Dell Collection
This recording opens with hymns and a prayer about being justified by faith, followed by Dell leading the singing of amazing grace. 2 Corinthians 12:9 and 1 Corinthians are introduced, and Dell discusses Corinth. He further talks about a minister’s credentials and how those credentials are in the character of the minister’s people, noting that it is the congregation’s job to learn and not just shout all the time. He talks of the oil sellers as liars in the Bible, and gives warning of fancy preachers who come from out of town and their lies to get a congregation to stay. He additionally talks about the COGIC church and that it has to take top importance. The recording ends with Dell leading a call and response about grace and how Jesus can set one free.
