Abstract: This paper addresses the need for land use management in the Office of Transportation Administration (OTA). There is a need for land use management because control of land development around transit stations does not presently exist in Dade County. The study suggests that land uses and transportation systems have a high degree of interdependency, in that changes in one often have a direct effect on the other. Im provements in transportation systems can serve as an impetus for land development. However, the management of such devel opment is typically not addressed. The study suggests there is a need for land use man agement in OTA. Therefore, recommendations are made that will assist Dade County in developing station area plans that are consistent with the existing environment.
