This video recording, dated August 28, 1986, consists of excerpts from the public television program, For the People, in which Dr. Asa G. Hilliard, III discusses the African origins of Ancient Egypt. Hilliard examines the facial features of statues, paintings, and extant mummies of earlier dynasties of Egypt, pointing out their consistency with African features. The video also includes a discussion of Ivan Van Sertima’s book, They Came Before Columbus, which asserted a hypothesis of Egyptian influence over the ancient Olmec civilization in Mexico.
