This video recording, dated June 1, 1995, consists of an episode of the television show Tony Brown’s Journal, titled “The Afrocentric Project.” The episode brought together Dr. Molefi Asante, Dr. Na’im Akbar, Dr. Maulana Karenga, Dr. Linda James Myers, Dr. Francis Cress Welsing, and Dr. Asa G. Hilliard, III to participate in a panel discussion concerning Afrocentric education and its place in the African American community. The panel was moderated by Tony Brown. Dr. Hilliard, in his short section on the video argues for racism, particularly white supremacy, to be included in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders.
